At this time, SafetyBook tracks information associated with U.S. consumer product
recalls as issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) since 1999, the
National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the U.S. Coast
Guard Boating Safety Resource Center. Recall information from the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not currently
supported by this website. Information and services offered by RECALL are provided
“as is” and cannot be guaranteed. By accessing this site or its information or services
you are agreeing with its legal Terms of Use.
Manufacturers issue product recalls at their discretion. SafetyBook’s databases
are updated daily with new recall announcements received from manufacturers or regulatory
agencies.
Including the purchase date of your item is optional and is a feature to allow you
to measure your warranty period. If you don’t recall when you purchased an item,
make your best estimate or simply leave the date blank. You item will still be registered
without a purchase date.
A Service Bulletin, also know as a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB), is an advisory
issued by the manufacturer to help automotive technicians diagnose and repair problems
reported by consumers and dealership service departments. TSBs contain up-to-date
factory fixes for difficult to diagnose problems such as rough idles, intermittent
stalls, hard starts, and all kinds of “shakes”, “rattles” and “clunks” that can
sometimes drive you nuts. Over 6,000 bulletins are issued by car manufacturers every
year.
You can file a complaint about your car
with NHTSA. If the agency receives similar reports from other people, this frequently
indicates that a safety-related defect may exist which warrants investigation. Your
report will be entered into NHTSA's vehicle owner's complaint database and used
with other reports to determine if a safety-related defect trend exists.
Vehicle manufacturers and the Trend and Analysis Division of The National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration collect the safety and statistical data that is entered
in the databases.
Please tell us about any issues you encounter via our
contact form. As issues get resolved we will do our best to inform you with
a direct email response or via the forums.
